Minibus Towing Training
WHAT CAN I TOW?
All drivers who passed a car test before 1 January 1997 will
probably be entitled to tow trailers as long as the overall weight
of the car and trailer does not exceed 8.5 tonnes. Drivers who
passed a car test on or after 1 January 1997 can drive a vehicle
and trailer combination up to 3.5 tonnes as long as the trailer
does not weigh more than 750kg. You need to pass a B+E test to
tow anything exceeding these limits.
HOW CAN WE HELP?
We will not only ensure your general driving is up to test standard,
when towing, but will make sure you know how to perform each of
the manoeuvres first time every time. The manoeuvres are,
- Coupling and uncoupling the trailer
- Reverse parking around cones (off road)
- Emergency stop
At the beginning of the test you will be asked 5 “Show me
Tell me” questions. Each wrong answer will be marked as a
minor driving fault, unless all 5 are wrong and then a serious
driver fault is given. The test will last for approximately 1
hour in which all your general driving and manoeuvres will be
assessed.
Whilst we cannot guarantee a pass, you can rest assured that
we will prepare you so you will be at test standard, more importantly
we will have you towing safely. Our instructors are all government
registered DSA driving instructors and maintain the very highest
of levels.

The DSA charge £89.00 for a week day test and £107.00
for a weekend or evening test.
